Dig out that old turntable
Vinylistas, rejoice! Sunday is a day made for you.
It’s the day for the Raleigh run of the N.C. Record and CD Show.
Note the order of words in the name: “Record” comes first. The e-mail passed on to me about it of course touts the availability of CDs, but it also makes clear that there will be vinyl on hand. My imagination and a co-worker’s interest in the event leads me to believe there will be lots of it, in fact.
The show runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Holiday Inn at 4100 Glenwood Ave. (just off the Interstate 440 interchange and down the street from Crabtree Valley Mall). Even better, admission is free, though I’m sure that the promoter and vendors hope you do bring some spending money.
Can’t make Raleigh on Sunday? No problem. The show runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Holiday Inn at 3111 Cedar Park Road Greensboro. If that doesn’t fit in your plans, later shows are set for coming months in Chattanooga, Tenn., Knoxville, Tenn., and Huntsville, Ala.
Want to wait until it comes back this way again? Still no problem: The show returns to Greensboro on April 25 and Nov. 21 and to Raleigh on April 26 and Nov. 22.

So did you attend and if so did you come home with any treasures? Do tell.
I’ll share my latest. I was in Goodwill here in RM and found a Livingston Taylor(James brother) album from 1970. Cover in good condition, vinyl in NM condition. For all of $0.99. On Capricorn Records label. His(Livingstons) backing band on the album were 3 of the 5 members from the Hourglass, a band that had Gregg and Duane Allman in it. Early birthday gift for mom, she likes all things Taylor and Simon.

Still have a turntable. Still have LPs and 45s, although I also have CDs! One day, my then 4-yr-old daughter was asking about my big CDs. It took me awhile to figure out she was talking about my LP collection!
