Another round of happy feet
A new set of dancers will soon be twirling around the ballroom.
ABC announced the pack of 13 celebrities making up the cast of the seventh season of “Dancing with the Stars.” Yet again, we have a diverse group of people representing the many sides of show business.
I am not a devoted fan of this show, but I always find it interesting to see the wide range of talent the producers assemble. Some of them are at the top of their games. Others are probably just looking for ways to get back in the spotlight. Either way, it is a combination that works for millions of people every season.
So who do we have this year?
There is Lance Bass, who will follow in the footsteps of former NSYNC bandmate Joey Fatone. Grammy Award-winner Toni Braxton will see if her feet can carry her as well as her voice has. Actress Susan Lucci will continue her work on “All My Children” while competing on the show.
Sports will get its fair share of representation. This year’s round of athletes include volleyball champion Misty May-Treanor, NFL defensive tackle Warren Sapp and track star Maurice Greene.
Rounding out this season’s cast include actress Brooke Burke, chef Rocco DiSpirito, actress Kim Kardashian, actress Cloris Leachman, actor Cody Linley, actor Ted McGinley and comedian Jeffrey Ross.
Reality TV isn’t really my thing, but when I flip through and see “Dancing,” I usually stop for a minute to see whatever couple is on at the moment. A few times I have even stayed. This show is pretty family friendly, the competitors treat each other with respect (at least on camera) and I get to watch a little dancing.
To me, it’s a good combination that beats the cutthroat deals and betrayals on the latest season of “Survivor” or “Big Brother” any day.
