Nash Central Observations
The stands were almost completely filled for Friday night’s game against Greensboro Dudley. Nash Central was able to run the ball up the middle effectively, but was unable to make a big play during the game - something the Bulldogs did in their first two playoffs contests.
Nash Central’s defense couldn’t stop the Panthers’ isolation dive plays. Greensboro Dudley continually ran the ball up the middle and the Bulldogs never found a way to stop them.
Nash Central coach Kenneth Grantham gave an emotional speech to his players after the game at midfield. He told his seniors that their jobs were not done and that the next season started Monday for all underclassmen.

Rocky Mount High observations
— Rocky Mount High continues to get contributions from unexpected sources. Twice on kickoffs Friday sophomore wide receiver Marcus Jones made a tackle. And his natural position is wide receiver.
— Now, the matchup everyone has been waiting for finally is here. Rocky Mount at Western Alamance. Gryphons at Warriors. Round three, the second in the eastern regional finals. Needless to say, this is a big, big week.
— The Warriors are going to have trouble figuring out who to stop. Six Gryphons carried the ball, with each gaining at least 32 yards. Quarterback Chris Berry carried the ball three times, including a 41-yard run that featured a bone-crushing hit on the one-yard line. Oh, and Berry was the one delivering the hit.
