Nash Central observations
Watch out, folks, the Nash Central football team is playing better now than it has at any point this season. And maybe better than any other 3-AA team remaining in the state playoffs.
The Bulldogs rolled to a 53-20 win Friday over the Wilson Hunt Warriors, and have dominated each of their two playoffs games. How much so?
Nash Central (9-4) has scored 94 points and gained 1,027 yards of offense in two games. The Bulldogs have limited Jacksonville and Wilson Hunt to 27 points combined, and have forced nine turnovers, including seven interceptions Friday against the Warriors.
Quarterback Cameron Holloway might be the most dominant player remaining in the 3-AA playoffs. He rushed for 242 yards and four TDs Friday, and passed for 81 yards and another TD. And in two games, he has rolled up 417 yards and seven TDs rushing, and another 110 yards and two TDs passing. He is capable of taking over a game with his legs or his arm - as quickly as a single play.
In order to advance to the 3-AA Eastern Regional championship and, possibly, the state championship game, the Bulldogs will need to limit their mistakes. Yes, they have made mistakes. Nash Central lost three fumbles Friday and committed 13 penalties for 122 yards (and 21 overall for 182 yards in the playoffs). For stretches late during the first half Friday, the Bulldogs played ugly football.

After taking alot of grief over the past several years, where are the people stepping up to the mic and congratulating Coach Grantham for the job he’s done this year. They were down and almost out after the Washington game, but he regrouped the team, made necessary adjustments, and right now they are playing better than they have all season. Want proof? They could only muster 7 points against Hunt earlier this season with the SAME team! Friday’s result was just a tad different, wouldn’t you say? And don’t forget, every team they lost to went to the playoffs. And now this team is 2 games away from playing for a state championship! Job well done coach!
