OIC Family Medical Center at 111 South Fairview Road welcomes Dr. John Pickett and to welcome back Dr. Stanleigh Jenkins. They both are joining Richard Ehly, a physician's assistant, who has provided outstanding medical care at the Medical Center for almost 10 years.
Brenda Lyons, manager of the practice, said: "Patients are delighted to be able to see Dr. Pickett and Dr. Jenkins, as well as Mr. Ehly. The addition of two new physicians expands the ability of OIC Family Medical Center to serve the needs of more people and to do so more quickly. We welcome new patients and appreciate the support of the community for the wonderful health care that OIC Family Medical Center provides."
Dr. John Pickett is a native of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, who moved to North Carolina in 2001. He received his undergraduate degree at Lincoln University in Oxford, Pennsylvania and his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, and he completed his internship and residency at St. Joseph's Hospital in Philadelphia. His wife, three young sons, and he reside in Rocky Mount. He specializes in family medicine and is available to see patients every Thursday from 5:30 to 9 p.m..
Dr. Stanleigh Jenkins, formerly a physician at OIC Family Medical Center, is pleased to be seeing some of his former patients and many new ones. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of the South in Sewanee and then served in the United States Air Force for five years. He then completed the Medical School at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a mixed internship and residency in medicine and pediatrics at the University of West Virginia.
His wife, three daughters, and he moved to Ahoskie in 1969; and he has practiced medicine in Eastern North Carolina ever since then. He is the proud grandfather of four grandchildren. Dr. Jenkins is available every Monday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. to see patients.
The Medical Center is open from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM Monday through Wednesday and from 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM on Thursdays. They are currently closed on Fridays but plan to be open on Fridays soon. OIC Family Medical Center offers a sliding fee scale to assist patients who may have a lack of funds and is committed to being sure that all people receive the health care they need. They also have a 340B Prescription Drug Plan arrangement with Almand's Drug Stores to make lower drug prices available for their patients.
