WILMINGTON — A Wilmington woman has pleaded guilty to federal sex-trafficking charges.

Twenty-year-old Alexandrea Berte entered the guilty plea in Wilmington this week. She faces up to 10 years in prison and a fine of $250,000 when she is sentenced later.

Prosecutors say Berte was part of an interstate sex-trafficking operation that set up operations in Wilmington and Winston-Salem.

Prosecutors say last fall Berte drove three women from Lumberton to a hotel in Wilmington to have sex with men. She then drove the group to Winston-Salem.

She was arrested for a traffic violation when she was driving the women from Winston-Salem to Nashville, Tenn.
