WINSTON-SALEM — Police in Winston-Salem say there were no injuries after a city transit bus was hit by a bullet.

A statement from police said eyewitnesses and the four passengers aboard the bus reported hearing a gunshot around 12:30 p.m. Monday. The gunshot shattered a window on the right front side as the bus traveled on northwest side of the city.

Neither the passengers nor the driver was hurt.

The bus is part of the Winston-Salem Transit Authority's Trans-AID service, which provides ridesharing service for eligible riders who are elderly and/or have a disability that prevents them from riding the fixed route bus.

Officers are investigating the incident.
