CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Police in Albemarle say two men are charged with beating and robbing their mother.

The Charlotte Observer reports (http://bit.ly/S0Ooqd ) that 25-year-old Joe Henry Furr and 23-year-old Tom Lee Furr are each charged with two counts of first-degree burglary, assault on a handicapped person, kidnapping and communicating threats.

Authorities say officers were called to an apartment where the woman who lived there said her two sons broke in, stole food from her cabinets and took $13 off a table. The woman said the men then kicked her in the face, locked her in the bathroom, then ransacked the house in an apparent attempt to find more money.

The men were apprehended Thursday evening and are in the Stanly County jail under $50,000 bond apiece. Their attorneys weren't available for comment Friday.
