APEX, N.C. (AP) — A pilot and his 14-year-old grandson were not hurt when their plane had a hard landing in Apex.
Wake County Sheriff Donnie Harrison says 73-year-old Bryan Henry Esterly was headed home from Fayetteville on Friday afternoon when he overshot a dirt runway.
Harrison says Esterly couldn't stop his single-engine Cessna, which flipped over. Harrison says Esterly owns the plane as well as a private landing strip nearby.
The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating.
