ALTOONA, Pa. (AP) — The 60-year-old, family-owned Sheetz convenience store chain plans to shake up its team of top executives.

The Altoona-based chain says Stan Sheetz, who has been chief executive officer and president for 17 years, will become chairman of the board when a new fiscal year begins in October 2013.

Joe Sheetz, currently the company's executive vice president of finance and store development, will replace Stan Sheetz in those positions.

Meanwhile, board chairman Steve Sheetz will fill a newly created position, family council chairman. The new position will let Steve Sheetz continue to represent family shareholders in company-related issues while remaining chairman of CLI Transport, the company that carries the gasoline sold at its stores.

Sheetz has more than 40 stores in Pennsylvania, Maryland, North Carolina, Ohio. Virginia and West Virginia.
