SHELBY — Authorities say no one was injured when a stage collapsed in high winds just hours before a concert in Shelby.
The concert was scheduled for Saturday night at the Cleveland County Fairgrounds as part of the kickoff to the American Legion World Series.
The band The Afters were doing a sound check around 3:30 p.m. Saturday when the wind suddenly whipped up and the stage began shaking. The band was able to get off the stage before it fell.
Organizers expected about 10,000 people for the concert headlined by Christian recording artist MercyMe. The show was canceled, and refunds will be offered starting Monday.
