BURLINGTON, N.C. (AP) — The newborn son of a woman who was killed in a wreck in Alamance County earlier this month has died.
The Burlington Times-News reported (http://bit.ly/UO4Vk7 ) that William Casey Riggans died Tuesday at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill. The baby's organs have been donated.
The boy was born at Alamance Regional Medical Center on Sept. 2 after his parents were involved in a wreck. Twenty-two-year-old Megan Mann Riggans of Staley died at the hospital after giving birth. She had been in labor and was en route to the hospital when the wreck occurred.
The baby's father, Brian Riggans, was seriously injured.
The funeral for the mother and child is scheduled for Friday.
