PEMBROKE — A woman has died in Robeson County after she was attacked by her dogs.

Sheriff Ken Sealey says the Pembroke woman was attacked Tuesday as she was trying to stop a fight between the dogs.

Her name has not been released while relatives are notified.

.Sealey says the woman was dead near the gate of a fenced-in backyard when deputies arrived.

The sheriff said it appeared several large dogs attacked a smaller one. The woman tried to break up the fight with a rake, but the dogs overpowered her.

Sealey says the dogs have been impounded.
