GASTONIA — A Gaston County woman has been sentenced to more than one year in prison for her role in a scheme to defraud Medicaid.
Joanna Patronis, 41, of Cramerton was ordered Wednesday to serve 15 months in prison and three years of supervised release.
U.S. District Judge Max Cogburn Jr. also ordered Patronis to pay nearly $3 million in restitution. Patronis also was ordered to forfeit more than $46,000 seized in the investigation, along with her home and SUV.
Prosecutors say Patronis and two others were accused of conspiring to defraud Medicaid by filing false and fraudulent claims in 2009 and 2010.
Erika Holland was sentenced to more than four years in prison in March. Giraud Hope was sentenced to 15 months in prison last year.
