WINSTON-SALEM — Officials have suspended a softball coach at a Forsyth County school for five days without pay because of a recorded tirade against a student.

The Winston-Salem-Forsyth County school board decided Monday to suspend East Forsyth softball coach Mike Muse for five days without pay.

The Winston-Salem Journal reported that schools Superintendent Don Martin says he thinks Muse is remorseful about the hour-long tirade, during which he cursed 15-year-old Dillon Tschrnko.

The teen's parents say they wanted more than a suspension.

Dillon Tschrnko had told Muse that texts between the coach and a 16-year-old on the girls' softball team were weird.

The school's resource officer, James Deeney of the Kernersville Police Department, also participated in the conversation. Officials say he was temporarily suspended last week and removed from the school.
