The N.C. Highway Patrol says 73-year-old Don Lowery of Union County died Saturday after he was struck by a pickup truck while he was mowing the grass in front of the church where his wife is pastor.
Thirty-seven-year-old Ronald Sutton of Lancaster, S.C., has been charged with death by motor vehicle caused by reckless driving and driving with a suspended license.
North Carolina troopers say Lowery was about 30 feet off North Carolina 200 south of Monroe when he was hit.
