WILMINGTON, N.C. (AP) — A 19-year-old Wilmington man is in jail after authorities say he fatally stabbed another man in a domestic dispute.
The StarNews of Wilmington reported Saturday (http://bit.ly/KtvvPL) that Shelby Reid Lentz has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of 32-year-old Martin Yakimovich of Wilmington
Wilmington Police Department spokeswoman Linda Rawley said Lentz is accused of stabbing Yakimovich multiple times late Friday during a domestic dispute at a home on McRae Street.
Police say witnesses told them Lentz stabbed Yakimovich during an argument. Lentz fled the scene but later turned himself into police.
Lentz said in is being held at the New Hanover County jail without bond.
The newspaper reported that Lentz said in a jailhouse interview that he was defending himself when stabbing Yakimovich. He plans plead not guilty.
