LINCOLNTON — Authorities in Lincoln County accuse a Denver man with sexually abusing a family member over a period of eight years.
The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office said 58-year-old Jeffrey Marshall Sempler is charged with second-degree rape, second-degree sexual offense and indecent liberties with a child. He's also charged with two counts of sexual offense/intercourse by a guardian.
The sheriff's office said Sempler is also being investigated by New York authorities.
Investigators said the alleged victim told authorities that the incidents occurred more than eight years ago, when the girl was between 6 and 14 years old. Authorities say the alleged incidents occurred while the two lived in New York and continued after they moved to Lincoln County.
Sempler is jailed under $250,000 bond. It's not known if he has an attorney.
