RALEIGH — Gov. Bev Perdue has not yet emptied her campaign fund as the closing of the campaign season and her administration approaches.

The Bev Perdue Committee's campaign filing this week showed nearly $1.3 million in cash in its accounts as of Oct. 20. The campaign gave $250,000 to the state Democratic Party recently and refunded nearly that same amount to donors.

Perdue decided not to seek re-election and leaves office in January. The campaign report says the committee still owes Perdue and her husband $776,000.

A Perdue committee spokesman did not immediately return a phone call and email Wednesday, but two newspapers quoted Marc Farinella as saying the governor keeps exploring ways to use the money for causes like public education and helping Democratic candidates.
