RALEIGH — The N.C. Education Lottery has made its second transfer of lottery revenues to the state for fiscal 2013.

An announcement from the lottery says it transferred $117.4 million. That brings the total amount earned for education and the state since the lottery started almost seven years ago to $2.69 billion.

Monday's transfer combined with the one made in October adds up to $238.5 million in lottery proceeds for education during the first half of fiscal year 2013.

Last week, N.C. Rep. Paul "Skip" Stam, R-Wake, said lawmakers would be considering a proposal to remove the word "Education" from the N.C. Education Lottery for advertising purposes. Stam said the word "education" shouldn't be used to sell "something that is essentially a scam,"
