GASTONIA — A 51-year-old man already on death row for killing a Gaston County teen has pleaded guilty to killing another woman.

Danny Hembree accepted a plea deal Tuesday on a second-degree murder charge in the 2009 killing of 30-year-old Randi Saldana and was sentenced to more than 26 years in prison. A third murder charge from a 1992 killing was dropped.

Saldana's burned body was found in York, S.C., not far from where authorities found the remains of 17-year-old Heather Catterton. Hembree was sentenced to die after being convicted of killing Catterton.

Hembree wrote a letter to The Gaston Gazette in January 2012, saying he enjoyed watching TV on death row and figured it would be decades before he was executed. He also wrote "kill me if you can, suckers."
