Mississippi Marine dies after training at NC base

CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. (AP) — A Marine from Mississippi has died after personal physical training at Camp Lejeune.

The Marine Corps said 30-year-old Staff Sgt. Carlous Perry from Clay, Miss., died after he was taken to Naval Hospital Camp Lejeune early Monday afternoon.

Perry was a maintenance chief assigned to 8th Engineer Support Battalion, 2nd Marine Logistics Group, II Marine Expeditionary Force.

The cause of death is still under investigation.

Perry joined the Marine Corps in 2000. He was deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2007.
