ELIZABETH CITY — A man has been charged in the death of one of two men shot and killed in Elizabeth City after a New Year's Day argument.
Police said Wednesday 24-year-old Jyrell Lee had been charged with first-degree murder. Police Chief Eddie Buffaloe Jr. said Lee shot and killed 21-year-old Quinton Epps at about 2:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Later that day, police discovered the body of 23-year-old Jamiel Walker in the backyard of a nearby home. He had been shot several times.
Buffaloe says all three men knew each other and were in a fight with several other people just before the shooting.
It wasn't known if Lee had an attorney. No one has been charged in Walker's death.
