LAURINBURG — Five people have been arrested after Laurinburg police say the suspects tried to pass fake $100 bills.
Four Laurinburg residents have been arrested, along with one man in Bennettsville, S.C.
Laurinburg Police Capt. Kim Monroe says the suspects are 22-year-old Jazmen Iesha Jones, 26-year-old Korey Maurice McGirt, 25-year-old Awyanna Blackmon and 55-year-old Fairley Leo Pegues, all of Laurinburg. Twenty-five-year-old Christopher Moore was arrested in Bennettsville.
Monroe say officers were called to a store Tuesday about a woman who was trying to buy items with a fake $100 bill.
Monroe says officers searched a vehicle and found more counterfeit bills as well as items used to make bogus bills, including a printer and a paper cutter.
It was not clear if the suspects have attorneys.
