ASHEVILLE — Authorities say they've ruled out foul play in the deaths of a North Carolina doctor and her husband who were found dead in a Texas hotel room.
The Asheville Citizen-Times reports Thursday that the Galveston County Medical Examiner's Office says 53-year-old Leslie Cargile had at least six different drugs in her system, including powerful prescription painkillers and sedatives.
Authorities say Cargile's husband likely died a day or two before the well-known Black Mountain doctor. But toxicology reports aren't complete on 58-year-old William Cargile because his body was more decomposed.
The couple had been missing for nearly a week when their bodies were discovered Aug. 24 inside a locked hotel room. Authorities say the couple had said they were going on an anniversary trip and left their cellphones at home.
