BRYSON CITY — Authorities said 10 Swain County High School students have been suspended after a video of them fighting with boxing gloves on in a locker room began to spread around the school.

County schools spokesman Steve Claxton said the ninth-grade students called themselves a "fight club" and held the bouts when they were supposed to be changing after gym class.

Claxton saidno teachers appeared to know about the fights. He says the students told administrators that the fights had been going on for about a month and no one had been hurt.

Officials said the students were suspended from school for 10 days starting Thursday. Their names were not released.

Claxton said a school worker found the fight video spreading among students and brought it to the principal.
