ROCKINGHAM — A man has been charged in the December 8 crash that killed a 9-year-old boy in Rockingham.

Police said Thursday that 44-year-old Christopher Goodwin had been charged with felony involuntary manslaughter.

Authorities say the boy, Jody Williams, died after his car was hit on Highway 74. His grandmother was driving, and she was hospitalized with serious injuries.

Police said Goodwin was driving 15 miles above the posted 45 mph speed limit at the time of the crash.

Goodwin was being held on $5,000 bond, and it wasn't known if he had an attorney.
