WILMINGTON — Two honeymooners heading for the beach have been arrested in Leland after police say they found the contents of a mobile meth lab and a cache of drugs in their car.

The StarNews of Wilmington reports  officers stopped 44-year-old Raymond and 45-year-old Jacqueline McLaughlin for several traffic violations. One officer suspected Raymond McLaughlin was impaired and called for backup.

A statement from police says after officers received permission to search the car, they found several bottles of prescription drugs, Xanax pills wrapped in aluminum foil and the tools and ingredients for a methamphetamine lab.

The couple, who was stopped on Saturday, is being held at the Brunswick County Detention Center under $750,000 bail each. It's not known if either person has an attorney.
