LENOIR — Officials in Caldwell County have cleared residents to use their water.
County officials announced Friday morning that all tests show the water is safe to use after test samples had been collected Wednesday and Thursday from around the county.
A boil-water advisory was issued after a mistake by crews laying fiber optic cable on Tuesday led to a ruptured line that cut service to about 20,000 people.
Repairs were completed and service was restored Wednesday morning, but a boil water advisory was issued because workers were clearing contaminates from the lines.
Residents in Lenoir received the all-clear early Thursday, but many others in the county were told to wait until officials received results of the testing.
