WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH — Getting to the N.C. Holiday Flotilla parade at Wrightsville Beach will be a bit more challenging this year.
Construction on the Wrightsville Beach drawbridge will mean it will take longer to get on and off the island for the boat parade Saturday.
Organizer Linda Brown said it will just take a little longer to get to the beach for the parade and the fireworks that follow. Brown estimates about 50,000 people will be on the beach for the parade and show.
Wrightsville Beach will have extra police officers on duty to help with the traffic.
Both bridge lanes will be used to get vehicles off the island Saturday night.
Work on the bridge started Oct. 1 and will continue until late March.
