JACKSONVILLE — Authorities in Onslow County are using medical records to identify the remains of a body found in a mobile home that was damaged by fire.
The sheriff's office said the remains were discovered Tuesday morning in a mobile home in the Southwest community.
A statement from the sheriff's office said the Southwest Fire Department was dispatched to the fire, as were sheriff's deputies and State Bureau of Investigation agents.
The cause of the fire is unknown, but as firefighters put out the blaze, investigators found a single bottle meth lab in the wood line near the burning mobile home.
An investigation into the fire and the discovery is continuing.
