LENOIR — Six employees of the Caldwell County Sheriff's Office have resigned from their posts following an internal investigation.

Sheriff Alan Jones hasn't identified the six workers, and said he won't go into detail about the focus of the investigation or what it revealed. The News-Topic of Lenoir reported that the probe linked the sheriff's office to an incident at another agency, leading to the resignations.

A news release on Tuesday said Jones accepted the resignations of four sheriff's office personnel and two communications workers.

Jones also announced the promotion of William J. Fore from sergeant to captain and division commander of the patrol division. Fore also acts as the department's spokesman
