WILMINGTON — The body of a prominent New York executive has been found in a car pulled from the water near Wilmington.

New Hanover County deputies say a car was found submerged off a boat ramp on Figure Eight Island on Sunday. Deputy J.L. Augst said the body of 55-year-old Benjamin Robert Williamson was found inside.

Williamson had been reported missing early Sunday. He was visiting the area.

Deputies had used a helicopter and dive team in the search. Augst said no foul play is suspected but the investigation continues.

Williamson was managing director and portfolio manager of hedged U.S. equities strategy at Chilton Investment Co.
