Speak Up: Move statues to battlefields
Thursday, September 14, 2017
I have a solution as to what to do with all the statues around causing all the controversy.
I'd take the statues that are erected to the old Confederate leaders such as General Lee and I would move them to the Civil War battlefield.
Then all those who like to dress up and re-enact the battle, they can be doing so in front of all their heroes.
The other statues like the one at Chapel Hill and the one at Battle Park, I would put them in the Smithsonian in a special wing dedicated to the old Jim Crow South because they are relics of that era.
That would remove all the controversy.
I don't think they need to be hauled down or pulled away, but put them somewhere if someone wants to see them, they can see them and learn the history.
That's the best solution that I know of.
