Noted journalist to help church celebrate anniversary

Mount Pisgah Presbyterian Church will be celebrating 126 years of ministry to the community and the city of Rocky Mount.
On Nov. 14 and 15, the celebration will begin at 7 p.m. with revival services led by the Rev. Richard Gerald of Metropolitan Baptist Church.
A celebration with family and friends will take place at 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 17 at the Booker T. Washington Resource Center that will feature our very own Vann Newkirk II as guest speaker. Vann is a staff writer for the Atlantic, where he covers politics and policy, with a focus on voting rights, civil rights and health policy. He was recently named one of the top 100 Most Influential African-Americans age 25-45. Vann resides in Hyattsville, Md., with his wife Kerone and son Benjamin.
Banquet tickets may be purchased for $25 by calling the church office at 252-442-7068 or from any church member. The public is invited to come and help the congregation celebrate.
