Former Gryphon Goodwin traded to Kansas City
Sunday, July 22, 2018
Rocky Mount native and former Rocky Mount Gryphon Brian Goodwin was traded on Sunday morning from the Washington Nationals to the Kansas City Royals.
Goodwin, 27, who has been with Washington since the 2016 season, was sent to Kansas City in exchange for minor league pitcher Jacob Condra-Bogan.
The outfielder spent time this season on the disabled list, but has appeared in 48 games, hitting three home runs with a .200 average in 79 at-bats. He also hit his first career grand slam earlier this year.
He’ll join a Royals team in rebuild mode. They entered Sunday with a 29-68 record, the second worst record in baseball.
