Rocky Mount police are in the process of trying to identify and return hundreds of stolen items to their owners after they recently were found during a search of a Rocky Mount home.

Police responded to a call from the Edgecombe County Sheriff’s Office about 11:30 a.m. on Aug. 15, according to information released by the Rocky Mount Police Department. Deputies had questions about items found at a home on the 200 block of Hendricks Street during the execution of a search warrant and asked Rocky Mount police for their aid.

Among the 60 categories of items recovered were several computers, several pieces of luggage, multiple collectible items, jewelry, assorted cameras and video equipment, electronic devices, knives and more than 1,700 rounds of various types of ammunition.

The items have been traced back to seven different owners, one of whom now is deceased, said Altre Pittman, digital evidence management officer for the Rocky Mount Police Department.

The thefts still are under investigation and no arrests have yet been made.
