Pedestrian injured in hit-and-run

Rocky Mount police are investigating a hit-and-run incident on Saturday that sent a pedestrian to the hospital.
A 62-year-old man reportedly was struck by a vehicle about 11:10 p.m. Saturday while walking on the 1900 block of Peele Road. Sgt. Brad Summerlin said the unidentified vehicle then fled the scene, leaving the man on the side of the road suffering from severe lacerations to his leg.
Rocky Mount police responded to the scene within six minutes, according to police reports. The man was transported to Nash UNC Health Care for treatment. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, Summerlin said.
