Rocky Mount police are investigating two separate robberies that took place on Saturday.

A 52-year-old man reported the first incident about 2:39 a.m. Saturday morning. The man said he had just returned to his home on the 2100 block of Tanglewood Court when he was assaulted by three or four men as he left his car. The men reportedly struck him to the ground and assaulted him as they demanded his cell phone and wallet. The suspects robbed him of his phone, credit cards and a substantial amount of cash.

Sgt. Brad Summerlin of the Rocky Mount Police Department said the victim refused medical treatment. The suspects reportedly had masks on their faces and were all about 5-foot, 7- or 8-inches tall, weighing between 150 and 170 pounds.

A second robbery was reported about 1:37 p.m. Saturday on the 200 block of Park Avenue. In this incident, a 42-year-old woman reported that she had returned home to find that two black men had taken items belonging to her daughter from her home. She said she confronted them and they revealed that they had a handgun.

One of the suspects is described as a man with a brown complexion and short dreadlocks, wearing a gray shirt and dark pants. The other suspect was described as a light-skinned black man with a mohawk hair cut, wearing a white shirt and dark pants.
