A recent shooting in broad daylight in the Ravenwood area on the southwest side of Rocky Mount is now being investigated as a homicide, authorities said.
Leontay Trevon Bryant, 23, died Saturday after being found shot early Friday afternoon, police Sgt. Brad Summerlin told the Telegram.
Bryant died after being transported to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, Summerlin said.
No information about a suspect or suspects is being released, but Summerlin said the case was changed from a shooting to an unlawful killing.
Officers at approximately 12:53 p.m. on Friday responded to a report of shots fired and found a wounded man in the parking lot of an apartment complex at 514 Cascade Ave.
Summerlin, in a press release on Friday, said the victim was transported to Nash UNC Health Care, but he said the person's name was being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
