Gunman robs dollar store in Pinetops

The Pinetops Police Department is asking for the public’s help finding a man who, while allegedly brandishing a firearm, held up the Dollar General store in the 300 block of East Hamlet Street.

Police said the robber entered the store at about 10:46 p.m. on Thursday, demanded money from the clerk and ran away with an undisclosed amount of cash. Police said the suspect last was seen heading toward Sixth Street.

Police said he is black and of a small or skinny build, with his hair possibly in short dreadlocks.

Police also said he was wearing white shirts wrapped around his head, a black long-sleeved or pullover shirt, tan or light gray pants and gray or tan and black tennis shoes.

Additionally, a reward will be offered for information leading to a conviction in the case.
