Man killed, woman hurt in shooting

Rocky Mount police are investigating a shooting early Friday morning that left one man dead and sent a woman to the hospital.

Police responded about 12:39 a.m. to a ShotSpotter call on the 1100 block of Long Avenue. They discovered two shooting victims inside the residence where several people were present.

The male victim, Dequan Xavier Dickens, 18, sustained several gunshot wounds and was found dead at the scene. The female victim, Khadijah Rashonna Lineberger, also sustained a gunshot wound. She was transported to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, according to an initial press release from the Rocky Mount Police Department. Her condition remains unknown.
