A second Rocky Mount man has been arrested in connection to a recent broad daylight home invasion involving the use of a gun and an ax as weapons.
Michael Fields is charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon. He's accused of breaking into an occupied home May 13 in the 100 block of South Discovery Street.
Fields, known on the street as Shaq, was taken into custody without incident Thursday by the Sharpsburg Police Department.
Fields and Lakeevis Grant, who was arrested May 21, entered the home brandishing a handgun and wielding an ax. They forced a 58-year-old woman into her bedroom and demanded cash, according to warrants.
It isn't immediately known who is accused of being the gunman and who was the ax man.
The woman put up a struggle and the two men fled with an undisclosed amount of cash. The woman wasn't injured, said Sgt. Brad Summerlin, spokesman for the Rocky Mount Police Department.
Grant has charges pending against him in unrelated cases on charges of breaking and entering, larceny, and drug counts, according to the state Criminal Court Calendar.
