Police nab murder suspect

Rocky Mount police have arrested a suspect in connection with the Sunday homicide of David Sandoval on King James Court.

Victor Hernandez was arrested Thursday for the crime, according to a press release from the Rocky Mount Police Department sent out Friday. Hernandez, whose age has not been verified, was charged with second-degree murder and jailed under a $2 million bond in the Nash County Detention Center.

Hernandez is accused of assaulting Sandoval, 37, whose body was discovered just after midnight early Sunday morning at 1 King James Court. Rocky Mount police were originally called to the scene for a report of disorderly conduct but received information while they were en route about an unresponsive person lying on the road.

They arrived to find that Sandoval had died after being stabbed during the assault.
