A man is dead as a result of a homicide in Rocky Mount this weekend and city police are asking for the public’s help solving the crime.

David Sandoval’s body was discovered after officers received a call at 12:14 a.m. Sunday to King James Court about people being disorderly, police Sgt. Brad Summerlin said in a press release.

Officers were en route to the call when they were told of a person laying unresponsive on the pavement, Summerlin said.

Once the officers arrived, they saw a Hispanic man who had sustained injuries from an aggravated assault, Summerlin said.

Sandoval was pronounced dead at the scene, Summerlin said. His age was not immediately available.

King James Court is located in a mobile home park off of Halifax Road on the northwest side of the city.
