Rocky Mount police are trying to find out who committed arson at a former convenience store and gasoline station on the south side of the city.
A person called in the early morning hours of Monday about the roof being on fire at what was the EZ Express Mart in the 2300 block of South Church Street, police Sgt. Brad Summerlin said.
A person may have thrown some kind of accelerant onto the roof and a small hole in the roof was found, Summerlin said.
The incident occurred at approximately 1 a.m. and nothing seemed to be broken into or tampered with, Summerlin said.
