Man killed in shooting

The fourth homicide of 2019 took place late Monday on West Thomas Street in Rocky Mount.

The incident occurred about 10 p.m. Monday night on the 700 block of West Thomas Street. Rocky Mount police responded to a shooting with injury call and arrived to find a white Ford Focus that had struck a utility pole. A short distance from the vehicle, on the sidewalk, police discovered the body of Tobious Devone Cox, 29, of Rocky Mount.

The Rocky Mount Homicide Unit is following up on all leads in this investigation, according to a press release from the city. Police are seeking help from the community about  the incident.
