Rocky Mount police are investigating a double shooting that occurred on Friday afternoon off North Harris Street.

A man and a woman were found with gunshot wounds after officers received a call at approximately 1 p.m., police Sgt. Brad Summerlin said. The incident occurred in the 400 block of North Harris Street in a residential area northwest of downtown.

Summerlin said the two people were transported to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, where their conditions were unknown.

City spokeswoman Tameka Kenan-Norman said the names of the two victims aren’t being released at this time.

The incident follows Rocky Mount having been the scene of three fatal shootings — one of them a double homicide — the weekend of Jan. 5-6.

Summerlin said police have yet to develop any suspects in the incident.
