An employee of Little Caesar’s Pizza had a narrow escape early Sunday morning as he was nearly robbed at gunpoint.
The 18-year-old employee reportedly was leaving work about 2:35 a.m. at the Little Caesar’s Pizza on the 3400 block of Sunset Avenue when he was accosted by a suspect who revealed a handgun in the waistband of his pants and demanded money.
Once the employee convinced the would-be robber that he had no cash on him, the suspect forced the victim to go to a nearby ATM machine, which was out of order. Seeing that his plans were once again thwarted, the suspect fled the scene.
The incident is still under investigation, said Aletre Pittman, digital evidence management officer for the Rocky Mount Police Department.
