Sweep nets accused drug dealers

After a six-month investigation, members of the Tar River Regional Drug Task Force targeted more than 50 street-level drug dealers across Nash County in an operation dubbed “Operation Silent Night.”

Members of the task force set out at daybreak Wednesday to begin locating the suspects based on warrants that had been secured as a result of the investigation. After the first day of the operation, 32 of the 52 suspects had been arrested. The remaining suspects are still at large and efforts continue to locate them. 

“Coordinated efforts between agencies like those that make up the Tar River Regional Task Force are vital to combating the drug issue in our neighborhoods. We will continue to partner together and tackle these issues as a team,” said Nash County Sheriff Keith Stone.

During the operation, a search warrant was conducted at a home on Mt. Zion Church Road. The search resulted in the seizure of $9,435 in cash, a semi-automatic rifle, a semi-automatic 9mm pistol and 2.1 grams of marijuana.

The following suspects were arrested and charged during the operation:

■ James Aycock was charged with possession with intent to sell, manufacture and deliver heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was jailed under a $1,500 secured bond.

■ Philip Adcock was charged with conspiracy to sell or deliver heroin. He is currently in prison on unrelated charges and will be brought back by writ to be charged.

■ Terrell Battle was charged with conspiracy to sell or deliver heroin. He is currently in prison on unrelated charges and will be brought back by writ to be charged.

■ Michael Beckmann was charged with felony possession of cocaine, maintaining a vehicle or dwelling place for a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was jailed under a $10,000 secured bond.

■ Devonte Bell was charged with possession with intent to sell or deliver heroin, sell or deliver heroin, conspiracy to sell or deliver heroin and maintaining a vehicle or dwelling place for a controlled substance. He was jailed under a $20,000 secured bond.

■ Tawanna Bullock was charged with sell or deliver heroin, possession with intent to sell or deliver heroin and conspiracy to sell or deliver heroin. She was jailed under a $10,000 secured bond

■ Jason Carpenter was charged with possession with intent to sell or deliver heroin, sell or deliver heroin and maintaining a vehicle or dwelling for a controlled substance. He was jailed under a $40,000 secured bond

■ Frank Cooley was charged with trafficking opiates by possession, trafficking opiates by transportation and maintaining a vehicle or dwelling for a controlled substance. He was jailed under a $50,000 secured bond

■ Montrell Cooper was charged with three counts of sell or deliver cocaine, three counts of possession with intent to sell or deliver cocaine and maintaining a vehicle or dwelling place for a controlled substances. He was jailed under a $140,000 secured bond.

■ Justin Chavirs was charged with possession with intent to sell, manufacture or deliver heroin and sell or deliver heroin. He was jailed under a $20,000 secured bond.

■ Courtney Craddock was charged with simple possession of marijuana. She was released on a written promise to appear.

■ Krystel Crandell was charged with sell or deliver heroin, possession with intent to sell, manufacture or deliver heroin and conspiracy to sell or deliver heroin. She was jailed under a $20,000 secured bond.

■ Tamarte Cranall was charged with possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver heroin, selling or delivering heroin and maintaining a vehicle or dwelling place for a controlled substance. He is currently in prison on unrelated charges.

■ Christopher Dunn was charged with conspiracy to sell or deliver heroin.

■ Corey Harrison was charged with sell or deliver cocaine and possession with intent to sell or deliver cocaine. He is incarcerated in prison on unrelated charges.

■ Kamiya Hart was charged with possession with intent to sell or deliver marijuana and conspiracy to sell or deliver. Hart was jailed under a $15,000 secured bond.

■ Chris House was charged with possession with intent to sell or deliver heroin. He was jailed under a $20,000 secure bond.

■ Leroy Joyner Jr. was charged with possession of marijuana and misdemeanor maintaining a vehicle or dwelling for a controlled substance. He was released on a written promise to appear.

■ Michael Kinsey was charged with possession with intent to sell or deliver Schedule II drugs, sell or deliver Schedule II drugs and maintaining a vehicle or dwelling place for a controlled substance. He was jailed under a $20,000 secured bond.

■ Darrell Mitchell was charged with sell or deliver heroin and two counts of possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver heroin and two counts of maintaining a vehicle or dwelling place for a controlled substance. He was jailed under a $50,000 secured bond.

■ Maurice Mitchell was charged with sell or deliver cocaine, possession within intent to sell or deliver cocaine and three counts of maintaining a vehicle or dwelling place for a controlled substance. He was jailed under a $40,000 secured bond

■ Norman Radford was charged with simple possession of marijuana and misdemeanor maintaining a vehicle or dwelling place for a controlled substance. He was released on a written promise to appear.

■ Paula Poland was charged with sell or deliver heroin, possession with intent to sell or deliver heroin and maintaining a vehicle or dwelling place for a controlled substance. She was jailed under a $20,000 secured bond.

■ James Robertson was charged with possession of heroin and maintaining a vehicle or dwelling place for a controlled substance. He is currently incarcerated in prison on unrelated charges.

■ Laterice Ruffin was charged was sell or deliver heroin, possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver heroin and three counts of maintaining a vehicle or dwelling place for a controlled substance. Ruffin was jailed under a $75,000 secured bond.

■ Stephone Sears was charged with sell or deliver cocaine, possession with intent to sell or deliver cocaine, two counts of maintaining a vehicle or dwelling place for a controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of marijuana. He was jailed under a $52,000 secured bond.

■ Travis Somerville was charged with sell or deliver marijuana, possession with intent to sell or deliver marijuana and three counts of maintaining a vehicle or dwelling place for a controlled substance. He was jailed under a $15,000 secured bond.

■ Trey Taylor was charged was possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver heroin, maintaining a vehicle or dwelling place for a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was jailed under a $5,000 secured bond.

■ Kevin Tyree was charged with sell or deliver heroin, possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver heroin and two counts of maintaining a vehicle or dwelling place for a controlled substance. He was jailed under a $50,000 secured bond.

■ Tristan West was charged with sell or deliver a Schedule II controlled substance, possession with intent to sell or deliver a Schedule II controlled substance and maintaining a vehicle or dwelling place for a controlled substance. He was jailed under a $20,000 secured bond.

■ Eric Williams was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and was released on a written promise to appear.

■ Quintavis Wilkins was charged with trafficking heroin by sale, trafficking heroin by possession and maintaining a vehicle or dwelling place for a controlled substance. He was jailed under a $50,000 secured bond.
